Pondering the journey of 2024

flow game power of questions stories from the journey Dec 18, 2024

I'm back in Ohio again, slowly putting the pieces back together before my holiday trip to my sisters starting this weekend. I've been to the osteopath and the massage therapist (both more than once), I've got all the stuff that needs to go to family boxed up and also items sorted out for my trip to Japan in January.

Underneath this ordering of things in space and my body throughout time, I am still letting insights from the last leg land and the full journey of the past months come into coherence.

What we discovered in our midst in Montreal...

The last leg of my Art of Powerful Questions tour happened in Montreal, hosted in Percolab's wonderful studio space. During the first week of December, Flow Game Hosts met to share stories and ask what the game wanted for the field there. Then we dove into the art and practice of powerful questions with people from all over Canada and also from the US. And finally we had a day long Practice Gathering for anyone interested in the Art of Hosting.

Here are some of the insights from our conversations:

  • "We don't take care of the circle energy as much as we could and let our voices come from the heart. The energy of chaos and transition -- which way will it go?"
  • "The answer is not always just what I have to speak -- how can we bring in other forms of creativity and be more playful?"
  • "We need practices that help us disagree with each other. What is the gift that longs to be put back in the centre of this field or reactivated?"
  • "What is our island of coherence here in Montreal? Like an operating system; a space of healing where we can fill each other's cups and practice human-ising?"
  • One of the participants said they work with these questions to help focus their work: Why am I doing this? What do I need? Who am I working with?

A new concept I learned there was "meadowing," in this case meaning that everything is where it needs to be for the health of the meadow or field. There is a sense of relaxation for me in this term. I can imagine it as a good metaphor for looking at the state of health and vitality of any living system.

What I learned for me...

I've been on the road this time from the end of September until the 11th of December. Whew! I'm tired. And not just from the travel. I have given my all. And I need to learn how not to give it all away without caring for and respecting myself first.

More learning:

  • I love being in practice with other practitioners -- I keep learning so much! And there's real power in a true and supported invitation.
  • I love teaching, inspiring and holding space for people to awaken to their most joyful, committed and embodied selves, and I know I'm really good at it!
  • I can feel my focus shifting and changing. This will mean my offering will change accordingly. I've given so much out, but it is not sustainable unless I value myself and help people value me accordingly. I need something back and I need to learn how to receive more abundantly.
  • I love travelling -- and I will never hang up my suitcase for good -- but I want to do it in a way that supports me to have the energy to bring more of myself. It's time for an upgrade!
  • Dear Universe -- i am a talent who needs an agent! Now would be good!

I'll be slowly percolating on my learning from now on and will be bringing my questions to a New Year's Flow Game or two. Why not join me? (Register here)
